A Washington state sheriff's deputy sued Burger King and one of its franchises for $75,000 over something he definitely didn't order with his Whopper. That could end up being one expensive lunch. Let's take a look at some other bizarre lawsuits that have made the docket.
- An L.A. cop sued Victoria's Secret (for an undisclosed amount) over injuries inflicted when she tried on a thong.
- Nebraska's longest-serving state senator filed an unusual lawsuit against a higher power.
- A Washington, D.C., judge sued his dry cleaners for $65 million over a lost item. What became his nickname?
- In Cleveland, a part-time paralegal sued NBC for $2.5 million because a sequence from one of its shows (now defunct) made him physically ill.
- A Wisconsin man sued his cable company for providing four years of free service that had unwelcome effects on his family.
- A woman sued Universal Studios in Florida for $15,000 because one of its featured attractions was too scary for her.
- A Michigan man sued Anheuser-Busch for false advertising when what the ads depicted didn't actually happen after he drank the beer. Pick a case and find out the details...post them in a response for us all to read.
Judge Fancy Pants Pearson became the senator's nickname. He must be too concerned about his money, and may be a little bit too sue happy. Was the lost item really worth that much money?
ReplyDeleteThese instances seem a little extreme to me! The instance -A woman sued Universal Studios in Florida for $15,000 because one of its featured attractions was too scary for her- really suprised me! The things that people do in the current society are quite sad to me. It seems individuals are willing to go to extreme lengths to get assets. Sometimes the point of Universal Studios is to scare its visitors, seems to be common sense! I think that individuals need to refrain from sueing a business whenever they get the chance--these are ridiculous cases!
ReplyDeleteWow! These are seriously ridiculous! People are so sue happy these days, it's sad. Suing someone over trying on a thong?! Douche. For one it's their fault for even trying it on. It's really crazy what people will do for money these days.. Kinda sad.
ReplyDeletehahahahahaha I bet all these people were bullied when they were in school. Those are pathetic excuses, they should be laughed out of the courtroom for those kind of cases!
ReplyDeleteAds can be very deceiving and sadly there are a lot of stupid people in the world that believe everything they see or hear.
ReplyDeleteI think it is riduculous that people try to sue people in these case. It is even more ridiculous seeing the amount of money they are going for. I don't understand how you can sue a company because you get an injury from a thong or sue a company because a cable company makes your family lazy. It is their own choice for that stuff, the company is just providing it.
ReplyDeleteLet me add some more to the second one....Nebraska State Sen. Ernie Chambers filed suit against God, asking a court to order the Almighty to stop making terrorist threats.
ReplyDeleteThe lawsuit accused God "of making and continuing to make terroristic threats of grave harm to innumerable persons." It says God has caused "fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, pestilential plagues, ferocious famines, devastating droughts, genocidal wars, birth defects and the like."
The suit also says God has caused "calamitous catastrophes resulting in the wide-spread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth’s inhabitants including innocent babes, infants, children, the aged and infirm without mercy or distinction."
The senator also wants the court to issue a permanent injunction prohibiting God from issuing plagues and terrorist threats.
Senator Chambers filed this lawsuit in an attempt to protest frivolous lawsuits.
People have definetly become more sue happy over the years. Judge Fancy Pants Pearson's case is one extremity of sue happy individuals. Judge Pearson sued because a $1000 pair of his pants got lost at the Chung's dry cleaning business. Pearson sued a week later after his pants had been found, because the Chungs refused to pay! That is ridiculous, if the pants are found the Chungs should not have to pay! Pearson in the first place obviously doesn't need money if he is buying $1000 suits. The Chungs moved from South Korea to the United States and opened up their dry cleaning buisness. Everything was good until sue happy pearson sued for a pair of missing pants that were found a week later. The case has been going on for two years! The most extreme part of this case is that Pearson is suing for 65,000 times the price of the pants.
ReplyDeletewow that one about god is stupid because you can't even sue god and he also does alot of good things too, not just bad things.
ReplyDeleteWhat people sue others for is ridiculous sometimes, over nothing that is important. The judge's nickname for the dry cleaners case was judge fancy pants pearson.
ReplyDeleteall of these cases seem a little ridiculous and unwanted. the people that file the lawsuits are just stupid
ReplyDeleteSome of these are just crazy! I mean you should know what your chances of getting "hurt or whatever" in these instances. I mean all I get from these stories are that they were intentially trying to get money out of them, and it worked.
ReplyDeleteThese cases seem a little out of hand to me because you sue someone for getting hurt trying on a thong really. People must not know how strong they are if they hurt themselves with a little piece of string. Some people.
ReplyDeleteThe chick with the thong had it attack her eye and scratch her cornea. She was prolly puttin by her eye, pervert. I dont think she should get anything, she shouldnt have been playin with a thong, and also she has no proof anyhting even happened, besides her eye, she coulda just touched her eye.
ReplyDeleteWhat is our world coming to?? These are crazy cases! The thong one kills me. It is not your problem that you can't watch yourself when trying on clothes. That is just your own stupidity right there and the trying to sue over it is just straight up ridiculous. And the fact that she had to miss two weeks of work was pathetic. Some people should maybe go out and get a life and not be so sue happy over the most pathetic things possible.
ReplyDeleteweird stuff. i didn't know that people could get away with that kind of crap. it seems like people are just looking for easy money that is fast.
ReplyDeletereally people.? get a life!! its abosolutely ridiculous that people sue for such stupid things. overrated.
ReplyDeletePeople need to stop sueing over stupid things! It is ridiculous! I think that people should not get money over such stupid claims.
